Photos of the photographer

A while back we gave Clayton our old point and shoot, that we haven't used since we picked up our DSLR almost two years ago. It has been a hoot for me to have a photography buddy, and it has been extremely interesting to see what Clayton takes photos of...

I think Clayton's photo turned out awesome!

One of my favorites of the roughly 300 photos Clayton had taken during the week:

Like father like son

Recently Clayton has decided that he needs a camera like his father has a camera. Of course I thought it would be fun to get the little guy a camera. I looked at the cameras at Toys-R-Us and didn’t see anything that I thought was suitable and at the same time affordable. Then I remembered our old digital that hasn’t been used since we picked up the DSLR almost two years ago.

I pulled it out, dusted it off, popped in some new batteries and handed it to Clayton telling him it was his camera. Off he went like a flash (pun intended) taking photos of everything in sight… Mom, Dad, the cats, his toys, walls, carpet, his leg, dad's leg, mom's leg, the closet, his shoes, himself (yes he started doing self portraits within 20 minutes) and the list goes on and on. He was almost as trigger happy as his dad was when we picked up our first DSLR.

He loves the camera, and so we go around the house hunting for things to photograph. I admit I had quite a bit of fun with Clayton. It was fun seeing his enthusiasm. When the weather warms up we will have to go outside and do a little shooting. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up!

Boys will be boys

Do you need anything fixed? Clayton was given power tools for Christmas that haven't had a lot of use.

Loving little boy

There is one thing about Clayton that is different from most two year olds (soon to be three). He is very loving, and affectionate. What I mean is that the little guy likes to hug, hold hands, and be held. He gives the best hugs and kisses.

He was that way as an infant and hasn't ever changed. Most children are too busy wanting to be held only so they can look around. When Clayton was an infant he liked to study his surroundings, but he was just as often content to put his head on your shoulder and cuddle.

We are some very blessed parents…

HUG!

Clayton's chair

This Christmas Nana (Clayton's Grandma) gave Clayton a brand new chair that is just his size. He loves his chair and he often will remind us that it is his chair. He knows that the chair has his named stitched across the back rest and will often rub his fingers across it and say letters in a random order. In his mind I am sure the letters he is saying spell CLAYTON. Sometimes he is so cute I could just squeeze him!

The chair is his favorite place to sit and relax and watch a movie like Cars, his favorite. Sometimes he wants to sit in our laps which we love.

His favorite show and toys lately are all about Thomas the Tank Engine.

Here he is showing off his latest toy Bertie the bus. It is so cute to see him play with these toys. He will have them talk to each other and they have some interesting conversations (his toys do). Often the conversation will end up with a crash and then apologies go around amongst the toy cars and trains.

Doesn't Clayton make some of the cutest faces? Man I can't believe how much I love this little guy sometimes. There is nothing in the world better than being a dad!

One of my next goals is to take some more creative photos of Clayton and all the things he does. It is hard to think of ways of showing his personality as he doesn't really like to hold still for dad and his camera.

I want to capture the things he does in such a way that in twenty plus years when he is married and starting to have kids of his own, Anji and I can sit down and laugh at the funny little boy and cry over how he has grown and changed. Plus it will be fun to say "you used to do that" when he complains about his son getting into some sort of mischief.

Family portraits

We have attempted a couple of times to take family portraits. Really it just hasn't worked out very well. I thought I would share some of our attempts at family portraits since there isn't any photos of our family all together. At another time I will share new and improved family portraits.

These were taken in Sanpete and it turned out to be just too cold. Poor clayton was freezing cold. I love this photo of Anji holding Clayton trying to keep him warm.

We did manage to get a few photos at temple square. Of course we didn't plan to take any family portraits as we were meeting friends at temple square. This is one of those spur of the moment things.

Clayton even managed to smile at the camera! What a cute little guy. It is hard to get a 2 year old to look and smile at a camera sitting by itself on a tripod!

This is in front of one of the many fountains near temple square. Don't you love Christmas lights?

Clayton was having a ton of fun!

Playing in the leaves, more life in Bountiful

The great thing about where we live is the there is some outside ground for the kids to play in. The area between the town homes is green and there are a lot of kids in our units that play there all the time. Really life is good. I know we want a real house but we have awesome neighboors and live in a comfortable beautiful location. We shouldn't have anything to complain about.

Fall time is such a fun time for the kids! This year is the first year where Clayton has been able to play in the leaves. Last year he wasn't walking yet and well the leaves scared him as he didn't like the texture of the grass and leaves. Hey, he started out kinda slow.

This year it is fun stuff all fun and games. Leaves are cool and they are fun!

Of course Clayton loves to play with balls. He doesn't care that the balls are worn and well, looking a bit past prime.

Where do the leaves come from Clayton? Here comes one right now!

I have a very handsome son I must say. He is cute to the max! All the girls want to be around this little boy cuz he is a real ladies man. I love that little guy so much it hurts!
